Greenhouse at Bittersweet Floral Wedding

When it comes to wedding venues, churches, restaurants, and banquet halls are usually the first to come to mind. But the most memorable wedding venues are often those that have a unique, purpose-built location that is repurposed for one night for a special event. One of the most interesting locations is a greenhouse, because it plays on the traditional floral theme of weddings, and it gives you all of the benefits of a wedding or reception outdoors without the unpredictability of the weather.

Since it was founded by Don Ritter and Jeff Kleven, Bittersweet Flower Market has served the La Crosse area since 1983, following the European tradition of daily enjoyment of flowers by providing beautiful floral arrangements, thoughtful gifts, and decorative plants. The 3000 square foot greenhouse was created from a restored 165 year old dairy barn in order to display their selection of flowers and plants, from annuals and perennials to year-round and seasonals in a natural setting. Now it is owned by Jen Jones, a third generation florist who bought the flower shop in 2016 after having worked there in 1999. Since 2017, the Greenhouse at Bittersweet has served complementary functions as a greenhouse during the daytime and the perfect location for weddings and receptions at night. The grounds of the greenhouse and adjacent marsh has amazing sunset views, providing the perfect backdrop for your wedding photo shoot.

The Greenhouse at Bittersweet has space for up to 150 and is available from June to October, and has air conditioning for those warm summer nights. Included in every package is a ceremony and reception space, tables and chairs, and a design consultation with one of their expert wedding planners, and of course discounts on floral packages. It is said that the team at Bittersweet is more like a family, with members of the team having worked there for decades, and if you hold your wedding or reception there, you will feel like part of the family too!
