A Slice of the Midwest in the Mountains: Emily & Jacob’s Day

While I split my time between Denver and the Midwest, I have a special place in my heart for couples who make the trek from the Great Lakes to the Rockies. Emily and Jacob traveled all the way from Wisconsin to say their vows, bringing a group of family and friends who were seeing the rugged beauty of Summit County for the first time.

Faith, Family, and the Blue River
For Emily and Jacob, the day wasn’t just about the scenery—it was a celebration centered on their faith. They wanted a venue that felt grand enough to honor the occasion but intimate enough for deep connection.
We started the morning with a private prayer behind the Pavilion, tucked away near the banks of the Blue River. It was a quiet, Christ-focused moment before the whirlwind of the day began—a vibe very similar to the Christ-centered celebration I photographed at Church Ranch Event Center. They chose to hold their ceremony on the outdoor patio, and as they exchanged vows, the sound of the rushing water provided a natural soundtrack that felt like a cathedral in the wild.

Why Silverthorne worked for their “Destination” crowd:
- The “Wow” Factor: Their Wisconsin guests were floored by the 360-degree mountain views without having to hike a 14er (though if you are up for the hike, check out my guide to Colorado 14er Engagement Sessions).
- The Comfort: The Pavilion’s massive wood beams and stone fireplace reminded them of the cozy, rustic lodges back home, like the Enchanted Barn in Wisconsin.
- The Connection: Because everything is centrally located in Silverthorne, the couple spent less time coordinating shuttles and more time praying and laughing with their community.
As the sun dipped behind the peaks, we snuck away for a few “Just Married” portraits on the pedestrian bridge. Seeing them soak in the mountain air—miles away from the Northwoods but feeling completely at home—reminded me why I love being a Breckenridge Wedding Photographer.
