Modern love doesn’t have to bend to age-old traditions rooted in archaic customs; couples no longer have to yield their wishes to meet some kind of social standard which doesn’t apply to them. Today’s ceremonies are rich with authenticity and originality, making it a truly exciting time to be a wedding photographer that thrives on creativity and the ability to produce art which challenges and elevates. Nowhere embodies this sentiment more than The Turnbull. Conveniently located in downtown Chattanooga, The Turnbull is home to two floors of extraordinary ambiance which provides couples with an all-inclusive wedding experience and has become a favorite of Boxcar Photography.
Reduce, reuse, restore… romance. Concepts held closely by many today; The Turnbull is 10,000 renovated and stunning square feet of the venue which was once home to the Turnbull Cone & Machine Company. Lovingly refurbished and repurposed as an event space, it retains its historical charm and place on the National Register of Historic Places. Perfectly suited to host large or intimate gatherings, its location is an ideal choice for many Tennessee couples who wish to keep their nuptials modern and fresh.
Getting ready on the day is easy in the spacious private dressing rooms. Equipped with lighted make-up mirrors, and ample, comfy seating, the open space makes capturing the love and connection among the bridal party easy. Stepping outside, the wild vines, and overgrowth dancing among the discarded brick and cement provide a unique backdrop for Boxcar to use creating the mix of formal and candid portraiture they are known for and provide fresh images which are uniquely Chattanooga.
The third floor of The Turnbull invites more intimate celebrations, featuring private dressing rooms, and the main hall for ceremonies; it is the perfect marriage of old world and modern. The open ceiling with its pipes and Edison lights mix with sheer curtains and greenery; this is a contemporary canvas that couples can truly make their own.
The fourth floor is where the party comes to life upon the large dancefloor with an accent loft area perfect for fun photo-ops. An open ceiling, home to the missed textures of open pipes and Edison lights, there is an industrial flair mixed with the warmth of the wood floors, wood beams, and antique architecture. Light pours down past the crisscross of beams and wires from two massive bays of windows that stretch along the length of the room which creates a wonderful connection to the outside, bringing in tons of natural light.
Friends and family can gather together at family-style tables delicately set to bring your wedding vision to life. This unique venue with its original architecture, an abundance of natural light, old brick, soft curtains, antique rug, comfy leather couches and is where history meets hip & modern and has quickly jumped to the head of the line of places Boxcar Photography loves to capture your wedding day.
